Athletic Trainers

Activity Description:  Athletic training is a co-educational experience. It involves working with the different athletic teams of WHS under the direct supervision of a licensed athletic trainer. This is an extracurricular activity in which students can obtain sports and sports medicine training.

Meeting Time:  Activity meets after school until about 6:30 pm during football season, plus additional times Thursdays and Fridays for games during football season.  After football season, games times change to Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for non football sports.

Meeting Place:  Waxahachie High School Lumpkin Stadium

Requirements: Commitment to WISD athletics, ability to work well with others, ability to maintain eligibility despite after-school time commitments, and punctuality to various events and practices is required of student athletic trainers. Also, taking the Sports Medicine class is recommended.  Students must have an approved signature from an athletic trainer to be enrolled in the athletic training class or sports medicine class.

How to join:  The student must maintain eligibility through academics and attendance as well as submit an application and participate in an interview process. Accepted students will receive a letter informing them of meeting times and expectations.
